MUSIC lovers are invited to a concert at the Colston Hall this month to raise money for charity.
Rock 'n' Raise will benefit the Nicola Corry Support Foundation, a charity helping young families cope with cancer.
Last year more than 1,200 people attended the event and raised thousands-of pounds.
This year's concert will be hosted by musician and event co-ordinator Daz Sims.
Mr Sims, 36, originally from Bedminster, will also be performing and will be joined by six other acts singing country rock, soul, Brit pop and other styles of music.
The charity was initially set up to help Nicola Corry, from Bradley Stoke, who was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer three days after giving birth to son Alfie.
Family and friends set up the support fund to help her with childcare, complimentary therapies and financial aid.
She bravely fought her cancer for more than two years before passing away in May 2005.
After her death it was decided to continue the fund and achieve charity status so it would be able to help other young families living with cancer.
Rock 'n' Raise starts at 7.30pm. Tickets are £10, available through the Colston Hall box office on 922 3686 or at www.colstonhall.org. Afterwards there will be a party at Stonehouse in Baldwin Street from llpm-3am. Tickets are £3 and can be bought on the door. |
