A ward at Bristol Oncology Centre has been fitted out with fridges thanks to a local cancer charity.
The Nicola Corry Support Foundation (NCSF) was initially set up in 2004 to support a young mum fighting a rare form of ovarian cancer.
But when Nicola died of desmoplastic small round cell tumour in May 2005 her family decided to continue raising funds to support others battling cancer.
While much of their work focuses on providing grants to families who need help with childcare and other costs, they also provide small touches that make things easier for patients when they are in hospital.
And now they have presented the Oncology Centre with 14 small fridges so that patients on Ward 61 can have the treats they need to help them through chemotherapy.
Nicola's sister, Claire, the charity's secretary, said: "When people have chemo they often want ice-cold drinks or want to be able to take in the food they want rather than just having what is available in the hospital.
"Nic used to like just crunching on ice. It's also very useful for families to have somewhere to keep drinks and food."
NCSF is now preparing to start a makeover of the ward's day room. New lights and flooring will be put in and the walls will be painted.
There will be a new sofa, a dining area, a play area for visiting children and kitchen appliances. To help fund the makeover and other projects, the charity is holding a fundraising dinner on Saturday.
Guests in pink tie and evening dresses will be treated to a three-course meal and music from local band Journey Up the Wood and solo artist Daz.
There are some tickets for the event at the Holiday Inn, Filton, still available at a price of £38 each.
