Thank you to everyone who made Rock ‘n’ Raise 2008 a fantastic success, The Colston Hall Rocked!!!
About 1100 people attended, downstairs sold out, and there was a real buzz around Bristol about the concert. The media were fantastic to us regarding promoting the event, especially Bristol Evening Post, Radio Bristol, Original FM, Star FM, Bristol Community Radio, and ITV donated the services of weatherman Alex Beresford who helped Daz out with the presenting.
This year’s line up was Daz, with his houseband, Dale Fry (bass), Paul Foss (Drums) and Claire White (Drums) filling in between the changeovers, On The Edge opened up the show with a bang and got the crowd jumping with soul and Blues Brothers classics, The Heathers from Birmingham performed a set of their brilliant self-penned material, Beyond Control (Daz’s music pupils) had a huge reaction from the crowd when they took to the stage along with new singer Luke Tripp, there was an escaped Gorilla who took to the drums and accompanied Daz on Phil Collins’s “In the air tonight”, Next up was Elena Vogt (from New York) singing 2 of her own songs, which will be included in her US tour, Journey Up The Wood were on top form with new singers James Head and Sonya French, Capone were the final band Andy Smith and the lads rocked out a fab set of classics, before we then got to the Finale comprising of all the acts, Nic's Crew and back-stage helpers doing “The Time Warp” and “Don’t Look back in Anger”
The crowd were left wanting more, but will be back next year, Friday 23rd October 2009 has been provisionally booked for Rock ‘n’ Raise 2009 so put in your diaries and book the next day off of work.
