Trustees

The Nicola Corry Support Foundation is a registered charity and currently has the following trustees.

Julie Haydon - Chair

My involvement in and commitment to the charity began right from the start. Seeing the challenges that Nicola faced in being a mum and living with cancer really hit home - especially as I had young children at the time. Therefore if we, together as a charity, can help relieve some of those challenges for families in a similar situation it means that something good has come out of something so tragic. I am employed as the Director of People for the St Monica Trust in Bristol, a charity that provides care, support and accommodation to elderly people. I have worked there for twelve years and prior to that I spent fifteen years in the NHS, also in the world of HR in various different guises!

Claire Bullock - Vice Chair

"Achieving charity status is something I know my sister Nicola would have wanted, she fought so hard and was so thankful for all the Foundation did for her to help her through the struggle. Continuing the charity in her memory has enabled us not only to do something really positive but provides support, which we have found is otherwise lacking to help as many families as possible who face a similar situation to the one Nicola faced. We miss her terribly but I know she is guiding us in achieving our goals and would be so proud of all that we have achieved to help others.”

Claire is a Quality Improvement Lead for NHS England in the South West region. She has worked for the NHS for 12 years and has extensive experience in Patient and Public Involvement, a career which was prompted by the experience of losing her sister and starting the charity. Claire also has experience of Human Resources and is fully qualified as required by the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development (CIPD), has a BA Hons in Tourism & Leisure Management and a Postgraduate Diploma in Human Resource Management.

John Corry - Treasurer

John is the Charity's Treasurer together with the associated book-keeping which can be a demanding job sometimes. He also maintains the website together with all things IT. He is also Nicola's Dad.

For many years John has been the Managing Director of a Computer Consultancy, before that a IT Project Manager with National Power. He has a Higher National Diploma in Business Studies. He theoretically retired some years ago!

Lillian Corry - Secretary

Lillian was born in Yorkshire and spent most of her working life as a legal secretary/medical secretary. She has now retired but still keeps her hand in doing freelance legal work. She moved down to the Cotswolds in 2013.

Lillian became a Trustee in 2016 and the Charity will now benefit from those years of Secretarial experience in her role as the Charity's Secretary.

Mary Pearce

I am Nicola's mum. I was teaching full time when Nicola gave birth to Alfie . When Alfie was 3 days old Nicola was given the devastating news that she had cancer. Our lives were thrown into turmoil. Originally I gave up work to help care for and support Alfie as there was no childcare support available. But then thanks to the foundation Alfie was able to attend nursery on a part time basis. Nicola and I had conversations about how she wanted to share her experience and support others in a similar situation to hers.

I feel so proud that her name and legacy lives on. I now look after the applications and liaise with the families we support. Having taught for 20 years, I have always enjoyed working with children and working closely with their families. Since my resignation as a teacher I have provided childcare support for my 3 grandchildren.

I also have many varied interests which together with the charity give me a fulfilling life .

Judith Tolhurst

I became involved with the NCSF recently when I met Mary through our mutual membership of a local rock choir and yoga group. When Mary started to tell me of the charity’s work with young families who needed help because their lives had been affected by cancer I was so impressed that I wanted to become involved.

I spent 25 years of my career as a teacher and then headteacher. Currently I am working part time with local Headteachers in a coaching and training role. I enjoy looking after my 5 grandchildren and regular trips to South East Asia where my son lives. I have both a Bachelor of Education from London University and a Masters in Education from Bristol University.

Trustees are elected at the Annual General Meeting but can be appointed and resign during the year.
